🚨 Drug-Rape Student: One of the Most Prolific Predators in the UK?

A shocking case has emerged as Zhenhao Zou, a 28-year-old PhD student from China, has been convicted of drugging and raping at least 10 women. Authorities believe there could be dozens more victims yet to be identified.

🕵️‍♂️ A Predator Hiding in Plain Sight

Zou, a student at University College London (UCL), filmed nine assaults as "souvenirs" and kept a trophy box containing his victims' belongings, including jewelry and clothing. His trial at Inner London Crown Court exposed the horrifying extent of his crimes.

The court heard that:

  • He raped two identified women and eight others who remain unknown.
  • Authorities suspect he may have attacked up to 50 women.
  • His crimes took place between 2019 and 2024, in both the UK and China.
  • He used hidden cameras in his bedroom to record victims.
  • Police found GHB and ecstasy—commonly used as date-rape drugs.

🔒 "A Very Long Sentence Awaits"

Judge Rosina Cottage called Zou a "dangerous and predatory" offender and warned that he faces a lengthy prison sentence when he is sentenced on June 19.

💡 “Such is the insidious nature of these offences, I think many more victim survivors may not even know they were attacked.” - Commander Kevin Southworth, Met Police

👀 Crimes Hidden in Luxury

Zou came from a wealthy background, paying £4,000 a month for a luxury London apartment. His designer lifestyle included a Rolex watch, high-end fashion, and cosmetic surgery. However, behind closed doors, he carried out his depraved crimes.

🚀 A Global Investigation

His case has now taken an international turn:

  • UK law allows prosecution of foreign nationals for crimes committed abroad.
  • Seven rapes took place in China, with videos presented as evidence.
  • Four rapes occurred in London, with only two victims identified.

💬 "A Serial Rapist and a Danger to Women"

Saira Pike from the Crown Prosecution Service commended the bravery of the victims who testified:

🔒 “Their courage helped secure this conviction. Zou is a serial rapist and a danger to women.”

🔍 What Happens Next?

With the case still developing, authorities are urging anyone who encountered Zou to come forward.

  • The Met Police is especially interested in hearing from Chinese students in London between 2019 and 2024.
  • Potential victims in China are also encouraged to report their experiences.
  • Anonymous reports can be made through the Major Incident Public Portal.
